city trip

what: On Monday the 20th of November we went on a city trip to the Canterbury  museum, the Christchurch art galley and on a city walk. on the city walk we followed a map and answered questions about some land marks and icons.

so what: In the museum we tried to work some old tools (e.g the drill and an old fire starter) At the art gallery we looked at some famous art and sculptures.

now what: If I could change what we did I would make it that we could go to the botanical gardens and the city center also shorten the walk.

C.A.R.E Values Blog, Week 8-9, term 3

My goal is to develop the consistent use of our CARE Values towards all the people I interact with and for myself.

  • My strengths are in Community because I can care for the community well and am a good learner.
  • I have achieved my Bronze certificate.
  • I am working on my Silver certificate because I would like to get my Gold.


  • I am going to work towards contributing to class and group discussions (A1) because I need to show/work on it a little more, because I do not contribute often.
  • I am going to do this by contributing more to discussions.


Art Attack Blog, Week 5, term 3

For art attack my goal was to produce a piece of art related to our local landscape using either paint, water color or pastel.

With Mrs Marsh I learned about foreground, middle ground and background in landscapes.
With Mr Forman I learned about color and complementary colors.
With Mr Rule I looked at the different landscape features of Canterbury and Banks Peninsula.

  • I enjoyed using water color to paint my good copy of my landscape.
  • I am proud of my final result of my art and my sketching 
  • I included the Waimakariri, mountains and trees to my art
  •  I found drawing the easy part and coming up with the idea very tricky
  • I used water color wet on wet and wet on dry 
  • I learnt that red and green, purple and yellow, blue and orange are complementary colors and that there is a background middle ground and a foreground.

  • I would like to try pastel if I did another landscape because I want to try to blend the colors a little bit neater and to try to get a different texture in my art
  • I would like to get better at showing foreground, mid ground and background a little bit clearer and neater

So What?
My handwriting goal is to:

link letters neatly and consistently.

My spelling goal is to complete list 7.

My writing goals are:
  • to identify the structure and features of a moment in time/descriptive writing
  • to plan our moment in time using our senses 
My reading goal is to:

  • understand what the author has written in a paragraph to help us make a sensible prediction what will happen in the next paragraph.

My blog goals are  to

  •   add more detail to my blog posts:

  • to use a variety of ways to show my learning (text, photos/images, video) 
  • to complete all the set blogs for this term

Term 2 Highlights

My Highlights Term 2

  • Passion Project
  • Winter Sport

  • Writing Information Report
Winter sport because we get to go out of school and play sport in a different uniform.
Passion project because we can learn about something that interests us.
Choir because we have the opportunity to sing and go to author places to sing as well.
SML because I like that you get to do some things e.g handwriting.
Information report because we got to choose what we did it about. 


What?We are learning to rap and find some music websites like drum beats also people who can rap for example hopeful. 
So what?I have learnt about/creating and listening to bullying raps.
Now what?My next step is to try to make even better bullying raps and rap them.


IHBL: a hip routine.
         a cha cha routine.
         to combine different movements in to a dance routine to Treasure by Bruno Mars.
         to combine different cha cha moves into a dance routine to can't stop the feeling by Justin Timberlake.
So What?
        My favorite movement / dance was the robot because it was fun to learn.        
I feel quite confident with the dance routines we learned.
        I was able pick up the different dance routines quickly.
        I found remembering the correct sequence for the dance routines challenging but only needed a little practice.
Now what?
        I would like to do further dance lessons.
        I would like to learn different types of dance and different moves.


I have been learning to solve subtraction problems by using equal additions from a tidy number 

So What?
I have learned that when you have an equation like 73 - 28  = you can either add the same number to both sides, or you can subtract the same number from both sides. 
I have learned that it is easier to make one of the numbers into a tidy number as it is easier to work out the answer.

Now What?
My next step is to use this strategy independently

What?I am learning about the new literacy program
I am also learning about how to do a reading response for my SSR book. For example where you have to write down the genre, the author and title
So What? Mrs Marsh is my sml teacher and I go to her every Tuesday  and Thursday and on  Monday  and  Wednesday I go to Mr Rule  for reading.
Now What? I would like to get better at getting to my class quicker and more organised.
